CANFIT launched the Promoting Healthy Activities Together (P.H.A.T.) campaign to improve the nutrition and physical activity knowledge, attitudes, skills and behaviors of adolescent youth participating in after school programs in the San Francisco Bay Area. The P.H.A.T. campaign embraced music, dance, emceeing, and other elements of hip-hop culture in promoting nutrition and physical activity to youth.

The P.H.A.T. training shares what we’ve learned from implementing the campaign. Using an interactive format, this cutting-edge training will teach you how to use hip-hop culture in delivering important messages about healthy eating and increasing physical activity to today’s youth.

What To Expect:

Attendees participate in a 4-hour “hands-on” training where they will develop a better understanding of today’s hip-hop culture, learn strategies to improve communication when engaging youth about health, explore concepts of junk and fast food marketing and learn some hip-hop dance moves!

Who Should Attend:

After school, community-based or youth serving program directors, coordinators and staff.
