MO Project Online Contest 2 : Own Your Health

In April 2010, youth traveled from around the state to Sacramento, CA to be honored for their MO Project winning videos at the California Convergence Conference. Read about the event. Four winners were selected by a distinguished panel of policymakers including assembly and senate offices from the winners’s districts, community members and youth who judged videos based on messaging, creativity and originality. The participants in each winning entry received an iPod Touch or Wii. • A Day in Our Shoes, Richmond – Seven teens from Richmond High School produced this piece which spotlights the everyday hardships of young people in Richmond and the power of organizing and advocacy in communities.
Dolores Huerta Youth Foundation, Lamont -Eleven youth from Arvin High School contributed to this video which shows importance of making changes to the local park to promote physical activity. The video also demonstrates the lack of safety at a local intersection which lack sidewalks and safe places to cross the street.
Spoken Word Poem, Merced County - An inspirational piece showing the power of youth voice. .
