USC NAI Training July 24-25

After School Guidelines Feasibility Training July 11, 2009

CANFIT Program Director Lloyd Nadal and Siamac Ehsan present the After School Guidelines Feasibility Project to the USC Neighborhood Academic Initiative’s Community Education Academy (USC NAI) in Los Angeles to pilot the California Department of Education’s (CDE) Physical Activity Guidelines for after school programs.

CANFIT partnered with the USC NAI to field test the implementation of the CDE guidelines through funds from the Rosalinde and Arthur Gilbert Foundation. The information gained from this project will help after school programs around the state implement quality physical activity programs and healthy snacks for low-income youth.  Thus benefitting the health, and decreasing the risk of diabetes for approximately 1,000,000 low-income youth enrolled in state-funded after school programs in California.
