Mexico Independence Day

On September 16, Mexico celebrates independence from Spain during the 1810 revolution. Music, food, and dance are all part of the fun! Crowds of people will gather to remember the official “Grito de Dolores” battle cry of Father Hidalgo from the Mexican War of Independence.

Here are a couple of tips to bring health to your fiesta:

    * Bake or grill your pollo, carne, or carnitas instead of frying in oil. * Use smaller plates to encourage appropriate serving sizes. * Try extra salsa and hot sauce for sabor! Skip the sour cream.
